Shark
The artist’s note for this work considers the shark as a cultural symbol of mortality, citing descriptions of it as ‘death scenting’ with ‘lipless jaws’. This digital painting was produced in September 2021, the artist’s first month of activity on the hic et nunc platform. The text contrasts the creature’s reputation as the ocean’s deadliest predator with the statistical reality of its danger, a consideration consistent with the artist’s focus on psychological states. As one of five editions, this piece represents an early stage in a practice defined by digital painting and the thoughtful examination of its subjects.
