Barbarella Dollington #80
This work is a unique edition from the generative series 'Barbarella Dollington', completed in March 2022. For this project, the artist drew upon a definition of kitsch from the writer Milan Kundera, who described it as the absolute denial of all that is unacceptable in human existence. The artist applies this concept to objects like dolls, which are made to seem perfect. The series is intended to explore what the artist calls “the feeling of a shattered kitsch”, which occurs when this illusion of perfection breaks. Each piece is an algorithmic composition of a broken doll portrait and text.
