Barbarella Dollington #41

Produced in early 2022, this single edition work forms part of the 'Barbarella Dollington' collection. The series consists of generative portraits of broken dolls, a subject the artist chose as a prime example of kitsch. Citing the writer Milan Kundera, the artist considers kitsch to be an absolute denial of everything unacceptable in human life. This project seeks to capture the feeling of a “shattered kitsch”, the moment when such manufactured perfection breaks apart. The algorithm combines each portrait with a piece of text to construct a narrative for the flawed characters.
