tightknit

This work, titled 'tightknit', depicts several heads fused together into a single mass. In a continuous loop, the heads strain away from a central point in a constant, unsuccessful effort to separate. The artist's note simply repeats the title. This term, suggesting a close knit relationship, contrasts with the image of physical entrapment and forced intimacy. Part of the 'absurdities' collection, this piece was made in April 2023 as an edition of fifteen. It uses a spare composition to visualise a surreal human condition of uncomfortable interdependence.
