Erik Swahn

Erik Swahn is an artist who also identifies as an architect. Active on the Tezos platform since at least 2021, Swahn has released generative series on the fxhash platform, with work held in its Genesis collection. The artist's professional background appears to inform a practice grounded in spatial logic and systematic construction. This collection holds works from two of the artist's series, *Retrogrades* from 2021 and *Punktwelt* from 2022, both of which exemplify a methodical approach to form and composition.

Swahn’s process is rooted in computation. The artist builds systems using Javascript libraries, including p5.js and csg.js, to generate visual outputs according to a defined logic. In the series *Punktwelt*, each form originates as a rectangular cuboid. This initial block is then modified through a sequence of Boolean subtractions, and the resulting complex geometry is rendered in parallel projection, either oblique or axonometric. Earlier series such as *Retrogrades* apply systematic transformations including sequences, repetitions, and transpositions to simple lines and arcs within a constrained grid, demonstrating a consistent interest in composition based on rules.

The central concerns in Swahn's work are colour perception and geometric representation. The artist explicitly frames *Punktwelt* as an exploration of colour interaction and perceived depth, continuing investigations from a prior work titled *Farbteiler*. The combination of specific projection methods with deliberate colour choices for individual faces can produce illusory or paradoxical spatial readings, creating a tension between the flat surface and the depicted three dimensional space.
