From the series playing.cccccards, this work applies Mark Knol’s generative methods to the familiar structure of playing cards. According to the artist's note, the piece is a collaboration with John Karel. Created on 10 June 2022, the work is a unique output from a generative script designed to produce a large number of variations. Knol’s practice is rooted in creating such systems, which allow for controlled unpredictability within a defined set of parameters. This particular iteration was released on the fxhash platform alongside other examples from the collaborative project.
