SMOLSKULL #205

This work is a unique output from Mark Knol’s Smolskulls series, a generative project that creates thousands of distinct portraits. The artist’s note identifies the subject as a “Smol pixelart skull face”. Created in November 2021 as part of the fx(hash): Genesis collection, SMOLSKULL #205 is one iteration from a system of rules and variables. This code based system produces a large family of related images, each one a variation on the central skull motif. The pixel based style connects the series to the visual language of early digital media and video games.
