Produced on 10 June 2022, playing.cccccards #1677 is a singular work from a generative series developed by Mark Knol in collaboration with the artist John Karel. The project adapts the familiar format of the playing card, using an algorithmic system to generate a multitude of individual designs. This approach is central to Knol's practice, which frequently involves building systems that produce families of algorithmically related images, such as his Smolskulls series. As with all pieces from this series, it is a unique edition of one, published on the fxhash platform.
