Strands of Solitude #376

This unique composition is an output from William Mapan’s 2023 generative series, Strands of Solitude. The Paris based artist uses custom code to produce intricate arrangements that consider themes of connection and isolation. Mapan’s background in informatics and visual arts informs his process, which he describes as an attempt to introduce human qualities into algorithmic systems. Each work in the series, including this one, is determined by programmed experiments with saturation, density, negative space and flow fields. The resulting organic forms and textural details aim to represent how individual elements constitute a larger, cohesive whole.
