Laurence Fuller
Rust II
This video work, issued as an edition of 38, is constructed around an original poem by Laurence Fuller. The text, written by the artist in 2023, uses the metaphor of rust to describe a world turning to decay beneath a red dawn. Its verses connect this corrosion to elemental forces of dirt and sea, and to the patinas of historical objects. The piece belongs to the Elysium Rising series, a body of work that includes Fuller’s written and performed poetry. The imagery is of a constant, creeping consumption that finds a kind of lustre in its own crumbling form.
