Alternate 127v1

This 2023 work is a real time animation with variable dimensions, generated directly from code written by the artist. It belongs to the Alternate series, a system governed by a precise constraint. Individual pixels move at a constant speed of one pixel per frame, restricted to one of their eight immediate neighbours. This simple rule allows initial compositions of form and colour to develop complex, non repeating visual structures. The title, 'Alternate 127v1', signifies this is the first of four distinct versions of the piece, which its owner can permanently choose to alter.
