This animated composition results from a collaborative process defined by Protocell Labs. For rtrdgtzr #1, a participant supplied an input image to a generative editor which then applied automated post processing to produce the final work. The series draws its aesthetic from pixel and glitch art, 1980s computer graphics, and the fiction of William Gibson, whose novel Neuromancer is quoted in the accompanying note. According to the artists, the participant becomes an implicit collaborator, as their input image is compressed and stored on chain as a signal, retrieved each time the piece regenerates. This work was created in August 2023.
