Created in September 2023, rtrdgtzr #143 is an animated work from a long form collaborative collection published on a generative art platform. The artists’ note explains that the system takes an image provided by a participant and subjects it to generative post processing. The series title is a phonetic rendering of ‘retro digitizer’, reflecting an aesthetic that draws upon 1980s and 1990s graphics. Protocell Labs states that participants are “authors” and implicit collaborators, as their input is stored on chain to generate the composition. A quotation from William Gibson’s Neuromancer accompanies the work.
