Studio Yorktown
Perpendicular Inhabitation #63
This work from January 2023 belongs to the series Perpendicular Inhabitation. Studio Yorktown states that the generative system for this collection examines the connection between the urban landscape and human experience. Drawing on a background in architecture, the artist constructs abstracted cityscapes using stark vertical lines and controlled colour palettes. The series serves as a homage to 1980s Japan, an era the artist did not experience directly, in order to consider feelings of optimism and nostalgia for a past time. The compositions consider how manufactured spaces relate to a sense of future possibility.
