This work, titled DOM2 #2464, is a fixed image produced in 2024 by a generative animation. It originates from the DOM2 series, for which Leander Herzog developed visual software that interacts in real time with a generative sound programme by Milian Mori. The series title refers to the Document Object Model, the structural foundation of web pages that Herzog employs as an artistic material. The abstract composition seen here is a result of the browser’s layout engine rendering basic HTML elements according to a set of rules, investigating compositional methods based on ratios and repetition.
