This composition, Distorted Habitat #39, is a digital edition from the only known collection by the artist Ida Belle. The work is the product of a stated process involving collaboration with an artificial intelligence system to generate 'bizarre structures'. The entire creative output of the artist is understood through this single, focused series which presents variations on architectural forms. Number thirty nine is a representative example of this practice. Without any accompanying artist statement or biography, the image itself, with its unfamiliar construction, becomes the sole document of a sustained inquiry into the built environment.
