GEOMORPHISM #88

Created in late 2022, this work belongs to the GEOMORPHISM series by Piter Pasma. The composition is generated using the artist’s custom ray hatching framework, which renders forms described as “thinking rocks”. Its generation relies on a technique called rejection sampling, a method where the algorithm proposes and then filters random parameter sets based on predefined aesthetic criteria, such as the balance of light and shadow. The artist notes that the piece requires a significant rendering period of one to three minutes. This delay is an intentional element, symbolic of the deep geological time the work's abstract and suspended forms are intended to evoke.
