Piter Pasma is a generative artist based in Groningen, the Netherlands. His practice is informed by a long history of creative coding, beginning in the competitive demoscene of the late 1990s where he developed an expertise in writing highly efficient algorithms. This background in creating complex audiovisual works within strict technical constraints provides the foundation for his current artistic output. Although he has been working with code for several decades, Pasma began to present his work in the context of generative art more recently, publishing his first series on art platforms in 2021.
His method is one of systematic mathematical and algorithmic exploration. Pasma writes code to generate visual systems, often employing live WebGL shaders, iterated function systems and ray hatching techniques.
