Piter Pasma
Skulptuur #579
This unique work is part of Piter Pasma’s Skulptuur series, which uses a highly efficient program of 6370 bytes to generate forms in three dimensional space. The artist’s note describes the process as carving a singular object from a sea of infinite possibilities, connecting his method to the traditions of systems art and digital sculpture. Informed by a background in the demoscene, Pasma’s practice values algorithmic minimalism. The work is rendered in real time by the user’s browser, where its appearance is shaped by complex virtual lighting. The final image resolves gradually as it is generated.
