GEOMORPHISM #132

This composition from the GEOMORPHISM series presents abstract forms that evoke geological structures. Piter Pasma produced the work using his ray hatching framework, which renders images with fine lines to create tone and texture. The generation process involves a technique called rejection sampling, where the algorithm creates and assesses random parameter sets, only finalising images that meet specific criteria for light and shadow. According to the artist, the code’s deliberate and lengthy rendering time is symbolic of deep geological time. The resulting image shows solid forms, some of which appear to float.
