Landscape with Carbon Capture #4033

This work belongs to Michaël Zancan’s 2022 series, Landscape with Carbon Capture. The artist, a programmer and painter, used Javascript code to generate a large edition of related images. According to his notes, the project critiques a reliance on technological solutions for environmental problems, which risks postponing necessary action. Zancan describes such technologies as a way to manage our own guilt or helplessness. As one of 11,399 generative works in the series, Landscape with Carbon Capture #4033 serves as an iteration within this systematic critique of contemporary environmental consciousness.
