Landscape with Carbon Capture #6517 is a generative image from a series produced by Michaël Zancan in 2022. The artist’s stated purpose for the project is to confront his own position when making work about nature using technology. He describes this as the “great hypocrisy of our times”, suggesting that the environmental cost of technology will inevitably “stain my canvas, no matter how green the colours on my palette”. This piece, created with Javascript code, is therefore an expression of that recognised contradiction, using the methods of a programmer to address the concerns of a painter.
