Michaël Zancan
Garden, Monoliths #225
This software based work from December 2021 is an output from an algorithm the artist started in April of that year. Michaël Zancan notes the program, first called 'Grass.js', was a response to spring vegetation growing over stones near his house. His initial purpose was to create patterns for a pen plotter using mathematical formulas, a process which established a graphical style founded on line strokes and transparent shapes. As part of a larger body of work, this piece is described by the artist as a variation on one of two existing designs, named 'Garden' or 'Monolith'.
