RGB Elementary Cellular Automaton #649

This work is a singular output from the artist’s programme based on Stephen Wolfram's Elementary Cellular Automaton. Minted on 11 November 2021, it belongs to the inaugural fx(hash) collection. The composition is generated by running three distinct automata, with each one’s output assigned to the red, green, or blue colour channel of the final image. The governing rules for each automaton are drawn at random from a pre selected group of 53 possibilities. The resulting pattern documents the behaviour of these overlapping computational systems, where simple logic produces a complex and unpredictable visual outcome.
