Created on 11 November 2021, this piece forms part of the artist’s foundational series for the fx(hash) platform. It is the product of a generative system that visualises the behaviour of cellular automata. As the artist's note confirms, the programme selects three different rules from a specified set of 53 options. Each rule dictates the evolution of a separate automaton, which is then rendered in one of the three primary colours of digital light. The work is therefore a record of a specific, randomised computational event, yielding a unique configuration from a determinate set of logical constraints.
