Shinnoak

Soheil Bitaraf worked under the name Shinnoak, a practice shaped by close attention to the natural world and to the inner landscapes of imagination. He studied Visual Communication, and his work carried the conviction of an artist deeply committed to his vision: a dark, symbolic world where macabre and fantasy imagery became a language for exploring the edges of human experience.

Shinnoak worked slowly and deliberately, building meticulous compositions in ballpoint pen and graphite on heavy 400-gram paper. Many of his originals are intimate in scale—some only six by nine centimetres—yet they hold immense density. Each drawing summons a pantheon of chimerical beings, corrupted executioners and fallen angels, rendered with a precision that makes the uncanny feel immediate. Titles such as Lilitian, Necromancer ov Núrnen lake and Diablo semiosis point to an enduring fascination with occult lore, infernal landscapes and the fragile boundary between the human and the inhuman.

Though his drawings began in the physical act of mark-making, Shinnoak shared them through digital distribution systems, including the Tezos platform hic et nunc, allowing his work to reach collectors far beyond the physical exhibitions he showed. Soheil Bitaraf is no longer with us, but the world he built line by line remains—a stark, compassionate record of an artist who looked unflinchingly into darkness and returned with something unmistakably his own.
